Window tinting comes in different degrees of darkness. It corresponds to something called a VLT (Visible Light Transmission) percentage, with 90% VLT being the lightest, and 5% VLT as the darkest tint.

Properly applied window tinting can eliminate the exposure to more than 90% of UV rays. THREE WINDOW FILM TYPES

STANDARD

You can get these with a lifetime warranty, and they typically block about half of all UV rays. They range in darkness from 5% to 55% VLT.

CERAMIC

Ceramic window film works much the same, but it also interferes less with interior equipment (particularly the electronic components). Like standard window tints, it produces a black appearance. Ceramic has the potential to block 55% of UV rays, and you can get lighter tints at around 85% VLT.

CERAMIC w/ INFRARED

This is a novel way to do window tinting because it doesn’t make your windows jet black like the other styles. The infrared aspect allows the tinting to reject sun rays even further, as much as 98%. Keep in mind, that has the added effect of reducing the sun’s heat in your vehicle as well. This means you don’t have to wear out your car’s AC as much when you opt for good window tinting.
